“This institution is an equal opportunity provider and employer”.

In 1991, Mrs. Underwood began her teaching career at St. Vincent  in the third grade where she remained for six years before beginning her family. Over the course of her 24 years at St. Vincent, she has served the school in many capacities. During her time as a new mother, she served as a librarian, and covered extended leaves in 4th grade, 8th grade, and music. She was the fifth grade teacher for five years before being named principal in 2013. She has also served on the Pastoral Council and was instrumental in helping implement a new governance structure with the Archdiocese. Mrs. Underwood brings valuable experience from all of these roles as well as long term dedication and commitment to the continued success of St. Vincent de Paul School.

Mrs. Amy Wilcher is so excited to be stepping into the primary preschool teacher role. She formerly served as our preschool aide and says that teaching at SVS is a dream come true. Amy is an Lawrence County native, has two sons that attend St. Vincent School, and has been part of our parish and school family for many years. She and her husband and their two boys live in Bedford.

Mrs. Marci Sullivan is a Lawrence County native and graduate of Mitchell High School.  She earned her degree in Elementary Education, with an endorsement in reading from Indiana State University in Terre Haute.  She then returned home to Lawrence County in 2012 to join the faculty at Dollens Elementary, spending two years as a Reading Intervention specialist. This is her second year teaching kindergarten at St. Vincent de Paul.

Ms. Jennifer Solari has taught first grade at St. Vincent de Paul School since 2007. Ms. Solari began her career in education teaching first grade in the San Francisco Bay Area. She taught there for 10 years before moving to Bedford. She received her B.A. in Liberal Studies and a Teaching Credential from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, California. Ms. Solari is the proud mother of three children, who attend St. Vincent School. She has always loved teaching beginning readers and is still fascinated by the process and work of first graders mastering the skill of reading. From her first day at St. Vincent, Ms. Solari has been most impressed by the value placed on reading and language arts as well as the high academic standards set by the staff here at St. Vincent. For her St. Vincent’s is not only a place of employment, but her family’s place of worship and their community.

Grade 2

Mrs. McFarland has taught at St. Vincent School for 10 years. She attended Ball State University and Indiana Wesleyan University obtaining her degree in Masters of Education while receiving her Master’s level classes in Reading Specialist and Strategies for Teaching Reading.
